Happy Tuesday everyone! Well, at least I would like to tell you that all is happy. My Grandpa is in the ICU and not doing well. Luckily I have a flexible job that allows me to be with him quite a bit. I have definitely treasured the time and enjoyed the ability to help my family translate the very confusing (at times) medical system. Anyway, that aside I like to focus on the happy times and celebrate life.
Today, we have a tasty little treat for you guys. I met Cary Black around August last year when I invited him to join our Shot of Chocolate party. Ever since then I have wanted to show you his collection of chocolate creations and share his love of chocolate. Cary has started a company called “Food of the Gods”. Through this company he creates several chocolate creations including truffles, fudge, caramels, cookies and more. I like the name Food of the Gods because that was exactly what chocolate was originally thought to be- food of the gods.
Cary likes to take ingredients and combine them into a variety of sweet combinations. The first we tried is the Aztec bar, which is a combination of dark chocolate blended with ground cacao and toasted coconut. Just to compliment the combination the the chocolate has hints of fruit in it. I love it. Although I like to taste the chocolate itself and to recognize where it comes from… little endless creations like this are a special treat.
Taste Notes: First I have a confession. It’s been a while since I was able to taste this bar simply because I have not been particularly fond of chocolate or other sweets since my pregnancy started. So, these taste notes are from my husband… Not to worry, I have trained him pretty well.
“Firm sweet beginning. Remains hard as sweet nutty tones emerge. Then fruity notes come out with the crunch that remains as the final chocolate melts away.”
Luckily, I think my sweet tooth is coming back. Have you found a cool chocolate creation lately?

OK Now that is a tragedy. Not finding chocolate irresistible due to pregnancy. Oh man….
It was just sweets in general. Luckily… it kind of lasted through the holiday season so I did not eat too much junk.
Even though Carl’s chocolate was tasty and aside from the fact that I got to eat the WHOLE thing, I don’t know how long I’ll be able to cover for your taste buds!
Get over this aversion to chocolate quick-like or we might have to start calling it myvanillapeaces so I can share my love for vanilla!
Wink wink…
Love,
-Chocolate Dad.
The Aztec bar sound really good. I can’t believe you lost your taste for chocolate because of your pregnancy… That is awful… LOL. A day without chocolate? … Never … LOL.
No worries, it definitely came back… my Dad gave me brownie supplies as well for Christmas and I am definitely working my way through them.
