While it may not be Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, for the town of Orem, Utah- it is a pretty good replacement. Decadence cafe opened in July of 2012 with an eye for chocolate lovers, sweets for everyone with a coffee cafe and hangout feel
The result? Decadence will likely confuse some coffee lovers but it is already winning over chocolate and sweet tooth fans throughout the area. I myself do not travel often to Orem, but had to go check it out and see what all the chocolate talk was about. The store as promised definitely had a coffee shop ‘vibe’, an eclectic look, cacao based drinks and plenty of sweets to choose from.
When we arrived, we had called ahead… just so they knew what they were getting in to by allowing me in to the store.
The first question they asked was, “What do you want to try?”. Little do they realize how hard of a question that is when there is a board full of chocolate drink options, a display case full of sweet treats (plus additional on the shelves) and a freezer full of ice cream. It was a bit of a cold day and since I was familiar with the Crio Bru we tried a cacao based espresso and the salted caramel hot chocolate. We tried a sandwich, several samples of their ice cream… and then it is possible, I got ‘chocolates out’.
I am not incredibly familiar with espresso’s but I loved the layered look of this drink.
The salted caramel hot chocolate was definitely my pick! I was told that they recently changed the chocolate in the drink… and I think it came out perfect.
I will definitely need to head back in the summer for more ice cream. If you have not caught on between several of my ice cream posts… I am a huge fan. The ice cream is actually what started this whole adventure in the first place. While in Hawaii, the owner and his wife tried this amazing ice cream that they would describe as ‘decadent’. This began the adventure that would one day become the current Decadence cafe as the pieces fell into place.
Other treats included: belgian hot chocolate, cupcakes, cake by the slice (almost 10 inches tall!), Crio Bru drinks, juices and other pastries.
The only downside of the shop? I wish they were closer to me.
To Decadence Cafe: Thank you for the fun visiting experience! I hope to be back again soon!
How about you guys, any fun sweet shops in your area?

Your photos make it seem like I can just reach out and sample. Too bad that is not the case… big sigh…
