There are all kinds of rivalry’s in a marriage. Opposing colleges, different political parties, sports teams. But what about chocolate versus non- chocolate? How do you ensure that your child is able to experience the absolute delight of chocolate and understand the fantastic wonderment and total delight? Well, I am not sure how I did it, but I think I might have succeeded.

My husband received a gift card to Cold Stone for his birthday and we were finally able to go. He reasoned that because it was his birthday and our little boy liked ice cream he would then order 2 cups of vanilla based flavors that he wanted to try. I ordered my usual chocolate flavored something cup and we were on our way. We were sitting at our table and little guy had complete eyes on my ice cream. My husband placed a spoonful of vanilla based ice cream in my little boys mouth… and it did not stay for long! I then tried some chocolate ice cream and he ate it right up! Even after my ice cream was gone and there was still some of the other flavors left… he had no interest in them. Ha, winning the battle on raising our first chocolate fan! For those of you that have been here a bit, you know that my husband, even though we call him Chocolate Dad, is not a chocolate fan.
Anyway, I am sure there are many parenthood battles that we will embark upon. At least I could help my child “choose the right” on this one.
Any friendly marriage rivalries in your house?

You HAD to go there.
Vanilla will win out one of these days…I’m working on it!
haha
-Chocolate Dad
Keep trying, I dare you.
meh…I’ve got a LIFETIME to do so. He’ll come around from the “dark side” sooner or later.
haha

And you can certainly keep trying!
When our kids were babies, we played Wheel of Fortune for diaper duty. Whoever lost the game show got overnight diaper duty. I always won — though I suspect that maybe my sweet hubby let me!
We are devout chocoholics, so that’s not a problem in our house!
That is a good idea! I have also see another humorous game for diaper duty… thanks for coming by!
Well then, I now have the perfect excuse to share chocolate with my kids
As far as I am concerned- no excuse needed.
That is too funny and so cool. My husband is not a chocolate fan either. In fact he doesn’t like sweets very much.. However, he has just recently become a fan of frozen vanilla yogurt. Who knows, I might get to like chocolate too. One can always hope.
Until then- more chocolate for you. In the meantime however, this turns into purchasing more ice cream than you need to because you cannot seem to agree on the same flavor.
Have a good day- Halloween tomorrow! Although I am tired and ready for the week to end.
Victory to you!
My kids love chocolate, but in moderation. They even moderate themselves on just having a little bit.
Actually there is one thing, ok maybe 2 that I am sure my child loves more than chocolate. Gold fish and salmon. And I am okay with that.
You bet… meat versus no meat; college football; NFL football; Fantasy Football teams (his ALWAYS beats mine and I hate it!); music… there are probably others…good thing we love each other.
Congrats on winning the chocolate battle.
Ya, we don’t have too many in our house and I am still working on my husband as far as the chocolate goes.
Thanks for visiting!
Vanilla all the way!!!! (with a little caramel…mmmmm)
The only reason I am approving your comment is because I have a marriage responsibility to do so… and so readers can get a taste of our pointless banter!
Readers- in case you are unaware, this is my husband, so a little banter is totally expected!
Love it! You go girl! Make that child a chocolate fan! LOL
Ha, ha. My husband thinks he can still win this one out.
You know it!
-Chocolate Dad…or better said “Vanilla Dad”
Sorry, I write the blog!
