Amedei is possibly one of the most enchanting brands of chocolate I have tasted so far. The packaging shows a chocolate culture rich in old world heritage and new world class. The Amedei logo, which is also a family name to the chocolatier, joins them.
Prior to tasting the bar I visited the Amedei website, which I have to say it one of the most entertaining websites I have visited in awhile. I also discovered that the brand was created by a female, Cecilia Tessieri, and she just happens to have won the Golden Bean award 4 years in a row from the Chocolate Academy of London. For those of you that are unaware, this is similar to winning a gold medal at the world championships. And I am not going to lie, I am pretty stoked that a girl has accomplished all this.
Also on the site is a message of dedicated passion to making the best chocolate in the world. Every web page on the site contains the statement, “Amedei is a dream which takes the shape of chocolate”. Their factory also looks like a dream. The large gates open to an old world setting that I am sure gives birth to great inspiration and taste. I am anxious to try more.
Today, however we did try the Cru 70% bar from Ecuador. I already mentioned the packaging above and the bar which is hidden inside does not disappoint. The bar was smooth in appearance and dark brown. After unwrapping the bar you are provided with a rich roasted scent of chocolate which continues into the tasting experience. After first placing the chocolate on your tongue your taste buds get a slight warm up as this flavor intensifies into a beautiful strong finish.

What a great story and I love the old world feel. The fact that it has won an award by a women warrants a try of sure. Besides, I need another excuse to eat chocolate… hee, her.
