Poll Time! What do you think about the chocolate oranges found in grocery stores during the holidays? Must buy / must avoid?
Personally, I am not a huge fan. If you have been reading the blog, you know my general opinion of fruit and chocolate is that it be a chocolate covered strawberry. However, I found one treat that I might just consider purchasing again- The Theo Orange Dark Chocolate. It has all of my favorite characteristics: organic, fair trade, ultra smooth, full of flavor and balanced bliss.
It’s hard not to miss the brightly colored orange picture on the wrapper of the Theo orange chocolate bar. Just like a juicy sweet orange itself, it is a picture of what is to come.
The Theo bar is quite simple in design, just a simple chocolate bar divided into 6 sections. No words, just the flavor or chocolate and citrus that kisses your nose after opening the bar. The bar is a smooth dark chocolate and does not disappoint when it knocks down your taste buds. The smoothness continues as the flavor melts away in your mouth for a perfect balance of chocolate and orange. Just as I love- a delightful taste of all flavors, not just one.
Another tidbit about Theo… they have been doing fair trade and organic since 1994. I truly love chocolate makers that take care of their chocolate from beginning to end. I love hearing their stories and then tasting it in their bar. Here is what Theo has to say about it:

Orange and chocolate are one of my favorite combinations. Of course, I like most fruit and chocolate combinations so that may not be a fair statement. I have been craving a good dark chocolate bar so this may be my next purchase.

I am one who stays away from the chocolate oranges – I just don’t like them. But a chocolate covered strawberry? Yes please.
Summer- any time you want to make or go out for chocolate covered strawberries- I am totally game.

I’m not a big fan of the orange and chocolate, but like strawberry and pomegranate.
Definitely right there with you. Chocolate covered strawberries are one of my absolute favorite combinations- ever, period. The thing I did like about this bar was that the orange was not incredibly overbearing, there was a nice balance.
