I could start this story one of two ways. I could say it is scary that my boss knows me as well as he does in the short amount of time I have been there. Or I could say that I have an awesome boss who really knows me well and pays attention to his employees. Either way, here is the story…
We were out to lunch with a large group of people from work to celebrate the completion of a large project milestone. When the waiter came around to ask what dessert we wanted the only options he gave me were bananas foster or key lime pie. Well, you all know me because you are here. Apparently my boss knows me pretty well too. Without skipping a beat he quickly asked the waiter if there were any chocolate desserts instead of the few options provided. Long story short, there was a chocolate layer cake option.
Save the day boss!
I have to admit that to the observant bystander, my face probably spelled it all- a complete dismay for not offering a chocolate dessert. Sorry I don’t have a picture of that face to show you, perhaps I’ll conjure one up later. However, I at least have a not-so-close picture of the boss biking along with me through Washington on our last business trip. To sum it up let’s just say he’s a pretty cool guy.
Any cool boss or chocolate dismay stories out there?

Wow- you’re boss is waaayy cooler than mine. Mine wouldn’t go on a city bike ride if you paid her! Happy you appreciate your employer & obviously the feeling is mutual.
BB2U
P.S. BB’s self employed. ; )
So if you are self employed… are you your own boss that does not go for bike rides?
Thanks for swinging by today! Are you guys surviving all the rain down there?
Glad there was a happy ending for you! I can’t imagine a restaurant not offering a chocolate dessert, and I’m sure you would have spoken up if your boss didn’t!
Well, I am kind of new and I think the prices were predetermined by someone else. But when the boss is paying…
How cool to have a boss like that. He sounds like a boss everyone should have. Because of him you got some chocolate cake. Was it good? Just curious…
I could imagine your face at the lack of chocolate dessert options… BIG LOL.
I tiny bit too much frosting on top… but I am not going to complain about that at all.
Have a good day!
A great boss is quite rare these days! We went to lunch with our pastor and his wife one day. They offered many great Italian dishes, but not my beloved chicken piccata. My pastor called the server over to ask if they’d whip it up for me. And they did! I had no idea a “chain” would accommodate someone that way, but I sure am glad our pastor knew
One day I will eat my way through Italy and perhaps expand my favorites list!
Wow. I think a lot of people do not recognize that restraunts will actually go the extra mile for them, especially if they’re not too busy. Thanks for coming by!
That’s so cool..your boss getting you a chocolate dessert. I too would prefer chocolate over the other two desserts.
Which reminds me…isn’t bosses day soon? I will have to take care of that! Thanks for coming by!
Cool boss INDEED! He’s a gem and you’re lucky
Definitely feeling lucky- and spoiled. It is a great job. Thanks for coming by again!
Lol! You must have a very dismayed face. It’s so nice of your boss!
Admittedly- yes, my face likely said it all. I have always said for this reason, I am not a very good liar. My face gives away any joke I try to play. Thanks for coming by!
For shame! How on earth could a restaurant NOT offer a chocolate dessert?? Maybe your boss wanted chocolate too? Either way, glad you have great people to work with! Thanks for visiting my blog, Nan
Thanks for returning the visit! Just to clarify, they do have a chocolate dessert, they were just going off of a prenegotiated price. Anyway, still a good ending.
