Ronan by Taylor Swift- Sweet Thursday

I may have mentioned in passing that my husband had cancer as a child. I have also mentioned my little boy from time to time. When I heard this song by Taylor Swift, it hit me deep.

If you have not heard of this song, it is based off of the story of Ronan. This is a sweet little boy that also endured cancer, but did not survive. His mother has created a beautiful blog and foundation that marks his story- and documents his legacy. Taylor Swift happened upon this blog and fell in love with the story. Together with Ronan’s mother they put his story into song.

Taylor then debuted this song at the Stand Up 2 Cancer fundraiser. For me it was the highlight of the show and it is by far one of the most heartfelt songs I have heard in a long time. If you are interested in purchasing this song from iTunes, it is my understanding that all proceeds will go to benefit cancer related causes. You can also visit Ronan’s blog at rockstarronan.com.

Ronan

“I remember your bare feet,
Down the hallway,
I remember your little laugh,
Racecars on the kitchen floor,
Plastic dinosaurs
I love you to the moon and back,

I remember your blue eyes,
Lookin’ into mine,
Like we had our own secret club,
I remember you dancin’,
Before bed time,
Then jumpin’ on me wakin’ me up,
I can still feel you hold my hand,
Little man,
And even the moment I knew,
You fought it hard like an army guy,

Rememeber I, leaned in and whispered to you,
Come on baby with me,
We’re gonna fly away,
From here,
You were, my best, friend,
For years,

I remember the drive home,
When the blind hope,
Turned to cryin’ and screamin’,
And why, flowers fell up in the worst way,
Don’t know what to say,
To a beautiful, your dyin’,
And it’s about to be Halloween,
You could be anything,
You wanted if you were still here,
I remember the last day,
When I kissed your face,
And whispered in your ear,

Come on baby with me, we’re gonna fly away,
From here,
Out of this curtain, this room, oh this house of grey,
We’ll just disappear,

Come on baby with me, we’re gonna fly away,
From here,
You were my best, friend,
For years,

And what if I’m standin’ in your closet,
Tryin’ to talk to you,
And what if I can’t the hand-me-downs you don’t fit into,
And what if I really thought, some miracle would see us through,
But maybe the miracle, wasn’t even getting one moment, with you,

Come on baby, with me, we’re gonna fly away,
From here,
Come on baby, with me, we’re gonna fly away,
From here,

You were my best, for years,

I remember your barefeet, down the hallway,
I love you to the moon and back”

Have a fabulous day and I would love to leave with the tagline of Ronan’s blog:

“All good things are wild and free”

I think the biggest thing here is to take away his legacy. His mom really has created a beautiful blog and is working to support others- which I think is awesome. Thanks for coming by!

I tell you, most of my favorite projects are done because of mother’s and what they will do for their children. I have also posted about Signing Times, which is an example of another awesome mother.
