A few weeks ago I was sitting on a Twitter chat and noticed another individual called Butcher’s Bunches. One of the other people mentioned something about fabulous chocolate jam.
Did someone say chocolate?
Yep, they did and so I took a look. First let me say that I absolutely love it when someone takes their passion and makes it their own. Then for me it’s even more fun when I meet a fellow chocolate friend… the more the merrier.
Liz is the creative and tasty brains behind Butcher’s Bunches. She has taken her love of fresh yummy produce, jam, and chocolate and combined it all into a tempting little treat. Not all flavors contain chocolate, but that’s okay. I can forgive.
The only chocolate spread I had tasted before was a popular chocolate hazelnut spread that I’m sure many of your are familiar with. But chocolate jam? I had to taste it. Then on top of that… there was no sugar added to the jam? Super sweet!
I was lucky enough to try 2 flavors.
Monkey Bizzzness
This takes into account one of my favorite all time combinations- chocolate and bananas. It is not just any chocolate either, it is Millcreek Cacao which is one of my favorites. I am ecstatic that she used one of my favorite chocolate brands, and for me it makes a world of difference in the taste!

French Kissed
This one surprised me. First it contains white chocolate which I am not a huge fan of and I was skeptical of how much of a difference it would make in taste. After all, strawberry jam is strawberry jam, right? Wrong!
The white chocolate adds a unique sweetness to the jam that is exquisite and my favorite was how smooth of a texture it created. It just rolled off my tongue. Beautiful.

In talking with Liz I learned that Butcher’s Bunches has grown on a tradition that started many years ago. Their family has always had a tremendously large garden and Liz states she learned to can produce young and has always canned since.
In making her jam Liz draws upon a few things for her unique flavor. She wanted to make it without sugar. She wanted to use the freshest, highest quality ingredients. She wanted to incorporate chocolate- and not just any chocolate. She searched Utah high and low to find what happens to be some of my favorite chocolate. She creates flavors from previous experiences mostly. For example, when she was younger she had an experience with a chocolate berry jam and wanted to make her own.
Anyway, don’t let me convince you. Liz has very graciously offered to give a gift pack away for a prize- and she has hinted at more in the future.
I will also be doing a follow up post on some treats we made with the jam. Check back soon!
What is your favorite jam?
As Liz says.. have a jammin’ day!
