Dreams Do Come True! Askinosie Chocolate

I know you all wonder what a chocolate nerd does in their spare time. In my case, besides eating chocolate, I look it up on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google… pretty much anything I can get my hands on (or eyes on in this case). In my reading I stumbled upon the story of an attorney turned chocolate maker. Not that attorney’s cannot like chocolate, but this does not seem like the typical course an attorney would choose….but then again, I am not an attorney.

Myself, I am extremely happy that this attorney made the switch. Ever since I first stumbled on to this company I have heard nothing but great things about their chocolate. Only problem, the chocolate is made in Springfield Missouri…how am I supposed to find that?  Since I’m short on time to drive 1200 miles for 24 hours straight, I gave them a call.

*If you have not been to the Askinosie site- get on that Appreciate the unique design and brand they have created. Then find some chocolate. I LOVE their website.*

Anyway, back to my point. The answer I received to my call was remarkable and their customer service was awesome. Mallory at Askinosie Chocolate took time to answer all of my questions, directed me where to find some chocolate locally, informed me of their summer shipping options and made sure that I would get their newsletter.

The whole chocolate

On to the chocolate! Here is what one of my readers told me about Askinosie:

They are a super fab company. They are also a small company of passionate people and I’d love to see their chocolate available far and wide. The chocolate beans are treated sympathetically so they retain some of their delightful flavors and that comes through in the robust scent and taste of the bars they create. I hope you get to try them soon!

- Judith @ Mostly About Chocolate

Today, my first experience with Askinosie was the 62% Dark Milk Chocolate. I thought maybe I would try something with a little less cacao content that I usually do.

… Hello dreamy!

Bare Naked Chocolate

This bar was medium dark in color. The snap was crisp, perhaps a bit on the soft side. But I think that is to be expected with a slightly lower cacao content. Or maybe it was just warm in my kitchen! This chocolate bar is made from trinitario cacao beans that were grown in the Philippines.

As you open the wrapper don’t forget to take a moment to appreciate the scent of the bar. Let the mixture of pure sweet chocolate and a touch of salt enter your chocolate soul. Expand upon the experience by reading the farmer’s story on the package. Then brace yourself for what is next.

Bottom

As you know, I love a good creamy chocolate and Askinosie fulfilled this and beyond. The texture of the bar was incredibly smooth and rich. Creamy all the way. The sweetness was perfect. The chocolate taste was just as my reader had described it. I am already salivating for more!

Thanks for coming by! Yes, I pretty much eat chocolate every day. I am thinking of blogging about a week without chocolate. But then this might turn into a grumpy blog instead of a sweet blog, so I am not sure… :)
