What another great winner we have this Sweet Thursday! In case you are new to the blog, Sweet Thursday is a column all about awesome people, nominated by you. Also, in case you have missed it… you have one more week to nominate someone and score some chocolate for you and your friend. For details click here.
Anyway, this weeks nomination has hit a bit close to home for me. Rick Jones is a Pastor and can be very busy with his congregation at times. He states that his wife has always been supportive and willing to share him 100% of the time for his service. Beyond that, he states that she is always going out of her way to help people in the congregation and is an outstanding mother, wife and friend. In this case, you could say angel. His wife Lois had a small stroke last year and despite this she has not let it stop her one bit.
I used to work on neurological unit when I did bedside nursing and I know how much even a small stroke can change a life. It can be very hard to adjust after such a huge life change, some struggle and some thrive. I have not met Lois, but I admire her for her example to continue to serve others in the face of her own challenges. Hence, I use the word, angel.

Here is Rick’s own nomination for his wife Lois:
“I am nominating my wife, Lois. She is an amazing woman. I am a Pastor and as my wife she has to put up with an awful lot from me and helping me with the congregation of our church. The hardest thing she does is share me 24/7. I am on call all the time and she is completely understanding about it. She gives tirelessly to help the families and especially the women of our church. I can’t begin to tell you the number of meals she has made to help people out during different struggles in their lives. She even goes out of her way to find grocery sales, deals and freebies to help many of the families in our church who have very little and struggle financially. She had a small stroke last December and has not given up in doing all she can for people. While she was still recovering and her vision was double she still was concerned about doing all she could and would call people and send them notes to encourage them. I am constantly amazed at her and her dedication to serving people and caring for me and our children! If any one deserves to be recognized, I think it would be her!”
You guys are all awesome. I am so lucky to write one of the coolest blog sections in the world.
Have a great week everyone!

These kinds of people impress and inspire me. What an awesome person she is to rise above her challenges to serve, help and encourage others. She certainly is worthy of the nomination.
BTW: I love your Sweet Thursday posts and YOUR awesome.
