Chocolate with Spark- a Review

First off I will say that this bar gets points for taste innovation. Wasabi lovers get ready, because this is a bar created just for you. Millcreek Cacao has created a bar sprinkled with ginger and wasabi that creates an intense and unique flavor unlike any other.

Chocolate Bar

Ginger and Wasabi by Millcreek Cacao

Here are the taste notes.

Snap: Crisp. It was probably a bit softer than normal, but we were outside and it was pretty hot. :)

Appearance: Smooth. One thing I like about Millcreek is it’s very smooth and they’ve taken careful steps to ensure this. The back side is where the flavor lies waiting to surprise you: it’s layered with finer pieces of ginger and wasabi peas. Chocolate is dark brown.

Texture: Chocolate is as smooth as it appears, mixed in with the texture of the flavoring.

Taste: Chocolate, wasabi and ginger. We tried this chocolate a couple of ways. To get the most flavor, set the piece of chocolate on your tongue with the wasabi and ginger side down. My husband liked to let the chocolate melt on his tongue until the ginger and wasabi pieces separated and then chew them a bit to mix the flavors.

The first taste of this chocolate is an intense wasabi flavor… I say intense because that is the strongest flavor that you taste first, but it’s not overbearing. This taste then gives way to the chocolate and ginger as the flavors begin to mix in your mouth.

Smell: Mostly chocolate, slight hint of the ginger and wasabi.

Surprise flavor waiting for you on the back of the bar.

Confession, I am not a wasabi fan, but I love Millcreek chocolate. :) That being said, I quite enjoy experiencing different flavors, even if it’s wasabi. Chocolate is not just chocolate any more. There are so many different variations and flavors. I hope you guys don’t limit yourself and try something new soon!

Picture notes: This was another painting with light experiment. We photographed outside and used a sparkler for the light streaks that you see in the photograph. The magic numbers ended up being 2 sparklers lit at the same time, 22 F stop and 13 second exposure. We definitely used a tripod for some of the pictures and a camera remote to help minimize camera movement. If you don’t have a tripod you can set your camera on something, but the remote really helps in minimizing movement.

I think I find a new flavor weekly… maybe it is a good thing that all grocery stores do not carry the fancy chocolate. :)
