From Grandma to Mom to Me. Here is our family bread recipe.
Ingredients:
6 eggs
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3/4 T salt
2 cups milk
10 cups flour
1 cup warm water
3 T yeast
Instructions:
Start the yeast mixture with water, yeast and about 1 T of sugar.
Scald the milk. When I was young my mother told me this was basically just until it was warm. Scalding to me is very hot and I would often burn the milk.
While the milk is warming up mix together the following: eggs, butter, remaining sugar, salt.
Once milk is warm place it in the egg mixture. The warm milk should help melt the butter. If your butter is very cold (I usually store my extra in the freezer) consider warming it up a little in the microwave.
Mix in 5 cups of the flour, I like to use wheat flour.
Mix in the yeast mixture, then mix in the remaining 5 cups of flour until it pulls away from the sides of the bowl. May need a little extra flour for it to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
Place mixture in warm area, cover with moist towel and let rise until double in size.
Knead and roll out dough as desired for purpose. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 min or until slightly brown on top.
We have used this dough for a variety of creations including basic rolls, bread animals, sweet rolls and more.
Enjoy!

This looks awesome. I have been looking for a bread recipe and my fit the bill nicely. I have got to give this a try.
I hope you like it… I know my family has recieved a lot of compliments on it.
Followed you back from the comment you left on my blog. These look delicious. I’m going to have to try them!
Peggy- you are awesome ! A comment here and facebook! How could I be so lucky?
That is what I love about bread- tons of options. Although tell that to my husband, he is admittedly not a bread fan. Thanks for coming by!
I’m already thinking of things I can add to this. We are a serious bread family!
Que rrriiccoo!! Looks like a great basic recipe- pero you know Babushka’s not your basic kinda gal… tell me more!! Especially about the sweet rolls. ; )
Can we freeze part of the batch? Would love to give the little doughboy a run for his money and just pop em in the toaster oven whenever I have a craving.
Keep up the yummy work, and I’ll keep on coming by.

You can check out Breakfast to Go- a Recipe which I have posted. I will also be posting a few more as time goes on. What we usually do is bake the roll in whatever form and then freeze it. My husband is LOVING the breakfast rolls this week. He just warms them up in the microwave or oven for a few minutes and they are good to go. Or I have just let them thaw and eaten them at lunch too. Glad you like it!
That looks like a great recipe. Very similar to what I use for cinnamon rolls.
Actually, I do use it for cinnamon rolls! Thanks for coming by!
